Should I Get a CoolSculpting Treatment Before or After the Holidays?

Lasers are widely used in body contouring to melt away unwanted fat, but it’s now possible to slim your body by freezing away fat cells with CoolSculpting. With the holiday season just wrapping up, some patients may  wish to to tone those troublespots like the tummy and thighs. But, is it better to get a CoolSculpting treatment before or after the holidays?

What is CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting is an FDA cleared non-surgical fat reduction procedure. It is a quick and easy solution for those problems areas that just won’t go away although you diet and exercise regularly.

CoolSculpting uses cryolipolysis technology, a process of controlled cooling, to freeze away unwanted fat cells. The system bypasses the skin, and targets the fat cells below the surface. Since fat freezes at a much higher temperature, the surrounding tissues are not harmed in any way. The fat cells are frozen and destroyed, and are then flushed away by the body over the months that follow.

The treatment may be cold and uncomfortable at the start, but is generally well-tolerated by most patients.

What to expect

Most people experience a 25% reduction in fat in the treated area. The results achieved with CoolSculpting are permanent. However, if you don’t stick to a healthy diet and end up putting on weight in the future, fat will build-up in other areas that have not been treated. The procedure is not meant to replace a healthy diet and regular exercise.

Where can the CoolSculpting procedure be used?

CoolSculpting is approved for use on excess fat on the abdomen, flanks, thighs, and also on back fat and bra fat. It also has a smaller applicator known as the CoolMini, which can be used to treat fat below the chin (submental fat).

Are you a good candidate?

The best candidates for CoolSculpting are people who are physically fit and healthy, but have a few bulges that are resistant to diet and exercise.

Should you have CoolSculpting before or after the holidays?

The decision to go with CoolSculpting before or after the holidays is really a personal choice. But doctors notice that there is usually a surge in demand for CoolSculpting after the holidays, as people want a fast and effective way to get rid of the pounds they packed on.

If you would simply like to enjoy the holidays without having to think about what you’re eating and how much, then it may be better to put off CoolSculpting until after the holidays.

Family gatherings and office parties with lots of food and drink are a normal part of the holidays, so you can expect to put on a few pounds, especially around the midsection.

Having the treatment done after the holidays will give you the freedom to enjoy all that the season has to offer. You will also feel a lot more comfortable when indulging in some of your favourite food, and be able to completely enjoy the festivities.

CoolSculpting is a great way to shift the holiday pounds you may have packed on. It will certainly get you back in shape after all the entertaining and partying is over.

However, if you need to fit into some holiday outfits and want to impress friends and families with your toned, fit appearance, you may prefer to have CoolSculpting done before the holidays. Since there is no downtime, you’ll be up and ready to take part in the holiday activities, and the results will be seen just a few weeks after treatment.
