5 Non-Surgical Treatments to Get You Beach-Ready

Summer is right around the corner, which means beach season is on its way! If you are not looking forward to the upcoming warm weather due to self-consciousness about your appearance, Dr. Maas and the staff at The Maas Clinic can help.

Check out these five non-surgical treatments that will get you ready for the beach without taking you out of your busy daily routine.

CoolSculpting

If isolated bulges of fat are getting in the way of your beach body, CoolSculpting might be the right treatment for you. This body contouring treatment uses concentrated cooling to freeze and destroy fat cells so they can be eliminated through the natural processes of the body. CoolSculpting is an effective solution for nearly any area of the body where you have isolated deposits of fat that have not responded to your diet and exercise efforts.

The CoolSculpting procedure is performed on an outpatient basis and does not require any anesthesia. The device delivers the cooling directly to the treatment area, which some patients find a bit uncomfortable at first. However, most adjust to the temperature change quickly and are able to read, check emails or even nap during the one-hour procedure.

After your CoolSculpting treatment, you will be able to return to your regular activities right away. The treated skin may be slightly red, but that will likely be the only sign that you just had a cosmetic procedure. Results of CoolSculpting appear over time, as the treated fat cells are eliminated by the body. Some patients will need more than one treatment session to achieve their full desired results.

Velashape

Don’t let unsightly cellulite get in the way of donning your favorite bathing suit this summer. Instead, zap that cottage cheese look with Velashape, the latest in cellulite treatment technology. This procedure combines radiofrequency energy, infrared light energy, gentle suction and mechanical massage to smooth away the dimpled appearance of cellulite that often appears on the hips, thighs and buttocks. The treatment also reduces the circumference of the treatment area for a sleeker body contour. .

Velashape is an effective cellulite treatment because it can work deep beneath the surface of the skin where cellulite first develops. The procedure decreases the size of the fat cells in the area while the vacuum and massage features smooth out the skin and ensure even delivery of the heat and light energy. The result is a visible reduction in the appearance of cellulite, as well as a circumferential reduction in the treatment area.

Velashape is also performed on an outpatient basis at The Maas Clinic. The procedure usually takes around 30 minutes to complete and patients are able to return to their regular activities as soon as treatment is over. Most patients will require 4-12 treatments every week or two to achieve their full results. Once those results are obtained, maintenance sessions every few months will help you keep your positive results.

UltraShape

UltraShape is the latest in non-surgical body contouring and is only available at a handful of clinics across the U.S. The Maas Clinic is one of the first to offer the procedure that has seen significant success across Europe in recent years. UltraShape uses unique delivery of ultrasound energy to selectively destroy fat cells, creating a smoother, leaner contour in the treatment area.

UltraShape emits focused ultrasound energy that is able to reach subcutaneous fat at a controlled depth without actually penetrating the skin. The ultrasound energy destroys fat cells immediately so that they can be eliminated by natural body processes. Surrounding skin and tissue remain untouched, ensuring a comfortable procedure without discomfort or recovery time afterward. ‘

The UltraShape procedure is a relatively quick, comfortable procedure that is performed right in our office on an outpatient basis. After treatment, patients are able to return to their regular activities right away. Results of UltraShape will appear over time as treated fat cells are eliminated. Patients may require multiple treatment sessions to achieve desired results, but once those results are obtained they will be long-lasting as long as a healthy weight is maintained.

Laser Hair Removal

Unwanted facial and body hair is another concern that can threaten to put a damper on your summer fun. Fortunately, laser hair removal offers a permanent method of hair reduction that will leave you silky smooth without making you a slave to your razor all season. At The Maas Clinic, we offer laser hair removal via the Lumenis Light Sheer Laser, which is recognized as the gold standard for laser hair removal in the Bay area and beyond.

Laser hair removal delivers targeted laser energy to the hair follicles, damaging the follicles so current hair falls out. It also makes it difficult for additional hair to grow in its place, which is why this treatment is touted for permanent hair reduction benefits. Hair is only treated during the growth cycle and since not all hair is in the growth cycle at the same time, multiple treatment sessions will be needed to remove all the hair in a treatment area.

The Maas Clinic offers laser hair removal for large areas like the back and legs, as well as small, delicate areas like the upper lip and bikini line. Treatment sessions vary based on the size of the area to be addressed. Patients are usually able to return to their daily activities as soon as the procedure is completed.

Chemical Peels

Don’t let acne or other skin imperfections make you shy about baring your summer skin. Now is the time to address those concerns so you will be ready to greet the new season blemish free. The Maas Clinic offers a variety of peel treatments that can be used on both the face and the body to give you skin you can feel comfortable in.

Our staff offers a variety of peel treatments that allow us to customize your procedure to your specific concerns and desired results. You can opt for a light peel to give your skin a healthy glow or a deeper peel to work into the layers of skin and address scarring, early signs of aging and pigmentation irregularities. It is important to remember that the deeper the peel you choose, the longer your recovery time will be. However, results of deeper peels are also more dramatic and longer-lasting.

No matter what is keeping you from looking forward to the summer season, our staff at The Maas Clinic can help. To find out which treatment is the right one for you, contact us today at 415-567-7000.
