I had a calling to be a doctor since my young years. I never really considered doing anything else with my life. I was born and raised in West Virginia and completed my internship and residency at Mercy (before it became Scripps Mercy). I was Outstanding Intern of the Year in 1973. I have enjoyed practicing medicine in San Diego since 1978 and after two years in the Air Force. To me, The Sharp Experience means giving better care than patients expect. In my spare time, I love playing tennis and working in the yard and garden on the weekends. I also enjoy spending time with my family, including two grandchildren, who make me realize there is a "Circle of Life."
