I am a sports medicine and shoulder surgeon with over 25 years experience taking care of athletes and people wanting to maintain their active lifestyle. Hip arthroscopy, shoulder arthroscopy and shoulder reverse and total arthroplasty are my primary focus in addition to ACL and knee arthroscopy. I have had the good fortune to train and study at Harvard Medical School and later with international leaders in knee and shoulder surgery in Switzerland and France. Recognition as the NC Sports Medicine Person of the Year and Outstanding Orthopedic Resident Teacher at Duke University Medical School are among my greatest honors. I try to treat all patients as individuals and family. Returning athletes, grandparents and weekend warriors to their highest level of function is my goal. Conservative care and rehabilitation are tried first, but if surgery is needed, I employ the most advanced, minimally invasive techniques using pain blocks for anesthesia.
