Sumeet Bhanvadia, MD, is a specialist in treating urologic cancer including cancers of the bladder, prostate, kidney, testis and penis, as well as in the treatment of complex abdominal reconstructive surgery involving the urinary tract. She joined the USC Institute of Urology after completing her urology residency at Keck School of Medicine of USC and further fellowship training in urologic oncology at USC. She is an active member of the Society of Urologic Oncology with expertise in open and robotic surgery.
Originally from Canada, Bhanvadia completed her undergraduate studies in history and physiology at the University of Toronto and Universityof California, Los Angeles, before obtaining her medical degree at the Keck School. Through her extensive urologic training she has developed an expertise in advanced malignancies and complex genito-urinary reconstructions. She also has extensive experience in bladder cancer care for the full spectrum of the disease.
Her areas of clinical and research interest include improving diagnosis and treatment of urologic cancers, health disparities, and optimizing the real-world delivery of cancer care. She is currently funded by the NIH to study barriers to cancer care in low-income patients.
Bhanvadia is a devoted parent of two young children. When she can, she and her family enjoy traveling and spending time together.
