Dr. Shastri is a board certified Reproductive Endocrinologist, Obstetrician and Gynecologist, as well as Clinical Assistant Professor for the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Science at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. She holds a Masters in Physiology from Georgetown University and earned her medical degree from Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Dr. Shastri completed both her residency and fellowship at New York Presbyterian Hospital – Weill Cornell Medical Center in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the Center for Reproductive Medicine and Infertility.
Her research interests include fertility implications of genetic disorders, young patients with poor response to IVF, and the use of complementary medical therapies in fertility treatment. Dr. Shastri’s research has been published in peer-reviewed journals and she has made numerous presentations to the American Society of Reproductive Medicine. During her training, she received various honors, including the “Excellence in Teaching Award” as a Chief Resident, the “Berlex Best Teaching Resident” Award and the “Outstanding House Staff Award” from the Cornell Alumni Association.
Reproductive endocrinologists provide care that specializes in the hormonal aspects of infertility and reproduction. Dr. Shastri is trained to deal with issues relating to infertility, menstrual disorders, sexual dysfunction, menopause and hormonal imbalances, among other complications that can affect the body's ability to reproduce safely (both men and women may be treated). Reproductive endocrinologists work very closely with patients toward the ultimate goal of bringing a healthy baby into the world.
