Dr. Alamir graduated medical school in 1992 from Damascus University, School of Medicine, Damascus, Syria. He finished successfully psychiatric training at Metrohealth Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio in 1999 and has served as chief resident during his residency.
Dr. Alamir became board certified in psychiatry and neurology in 2000.After working for the state psychiatric hospital at Northcoast Behavioral Healthcare Systems doing inpatient psychiatry, Dr. Alamir did community psychiatry from January of 2001 until March of 2007 at The Nord Center in Lorain, Ohio. During his last year and a half at the Nord Center, Dr. Alamir was the center’s medical director. In addition, Dr. Alamir worked at St. Vincent Charity Hospital Psychiatric Emergency Room between 1997 and 2005.In 2007, Dr. Alamir opened a private practice in Westlake, Ohio and provided psychiatric consultations and inpatient admissions to Lakewood Hospital and Elyria Memorial Hospital. During that time, Dr. Alamir was providing geropsychiatric care to 5 different nursing home facilities as well.
In 2010, Dr. Alamir became affiliated with University Hospitals-St. John Medical Center where he provided daily consultations, medical students education in his capacity as the Chief of Psychiatry, in addition to chemical dependency treatment and detoxification of patients admitted to the hospital. He has been a member of the Wellness Committee and the Opiates Advisory Committee. Dr. Alamir continued to be invested in providing psychiatric services in the heart of Westlake, Ohio, with true believe that good mental health makes a world of difference and that everyone deserves better.
Dr. Alamir collaborated with Neuronetics to bring Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation treatment to Westlake, Ohio, and to offer such treatment option for patients that have resistant to treat severe major depressive disorder or patients intolerant of medications side effects.
Psychiatrists are primary care doctors for mental health. Dr. Alamir concentrates on treating the overall psychological well-being in patients, capable of detecting and managing the various forms of mental illness. These may include things like depression, eating disorders, bipolar disorder or anxiety disorders, for example. Dr. Alamir may provide treatments which range from medication management plans to unique methods of therapy.
