Sabha Ganai, MD, PhD, MPH, FACS is a board-certified surgical oncologist with expertise in the multidisciplinary management of pancreas, hepatobiliary (liver, gallbladder, and bile ducts), and foregut (stomach and esophagus) tumors, thyroid and parathyroid disease, as well as retroperitoneal sarcomas and gastrointestinal stromal tumors. She is facile in minimally-invasive surgery and was first to perform the HIPEC (hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy) procedure in Central and Southern Illinois. Her academic interests are focused on rural cancer disparities, health geographics, ethics, surgical education, and translational research examining the biology of metastasis.
Dr. Sabha Ganai is a rural disparities researcher and has been an active committee member for the Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract, Association for Academic Surgery, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, and the Society for Surgical Oncology. She seeks to provide compassionate care and serve the surgical needs of patients with cancer in rural America.

The goal of a surgical oncologist is to stop the advancement of the disease through surgical intervention, sending the patient into remission. Dr. Ganai may offer a range of surgical treatment types including preventive surgery, curative surgery, diagnostic surgery, debulking surgery, palliative surgery, restorative surgery, and more.
