Endocrinologists are trained to treat patients for a variety of hormonal diseases and disorders, such as diabetes. Dr. Sakkal can diagnose and create treatment plans for conditions like growth disorders, obesity, low testosterone, osteoporosis and various thyroid disorders, among others. Treatments provided by an endocrinologist may include medication management or hormone therapies.
Specializing in the treatment of diabetes, Dr. Sakkal cares for patients suffering from all types and stages of the disease such as types I and II, or gestational diabetes. Diabetologists work closely with diabetic patients to formulate a personalized, comprehensive plan that includes a diabetes-friendly diet and exercise regimen, in addition to any prescription medications or treatment procedures that are deemed necessary.
The specialty of internal medicine is an area of primary care for adults. Dr. Sakkal specializes in diagnosing and treating cross-system illnesses that may affect multiple organ systems.
