Dr. Wilcox is the Founder and Director of the Plastic & Cosmetic Surgery Center of Texas. After graduating from Texas A&M University Magna Cum Laude, he attended the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, graduating in 1984 near the top of his class.
After medical school, Dr. Wilcox completed eight years of resident training in three specialties. He trained in General Surgery at the University of Florida from 1984 through 1989. Afterwards, he returned to Dallas for his Plastic Surgery training at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. Following that, he was invited to remain as a fellow in Hand and Microsurgery at Southwestern. Dr. Wilcox achieved the very rare distinction of being triple board certified in these specialties. This extra training provides important expertise in surgery of all parts of the body. Dr. Wilcox remains current with the latest techniques in plastic and cosmetic surgery by regularly attending medical seminars, workshops, and conferences.
Dr. Wilcox entered private practice in Plano and North Dallas in 1992. In 1998, he made the decision to design and build a world-class surgical facility/clinic/skin care center to complement his increasingly global practice. He has patients from six continents and has published and presented numerous scientific articles in the United States and abroad. He is a respected member of the Plastic Surgery community and served as the past President of the Dallas Society of Plastic Surgeons, as well as all other officer positions in this organization of board certified Plastic Surgeons. He was awarded the American Medical Association’s Physician Recognition Award and has served as Clinical Assistant Professor in Plastic Surgery at U.T. Southwestern Medical School.
Dr. Wilcox is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) which consists solely of board certified Plastic Surgeons, as well as the premier organization for cosmetic surgery – American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS). Other organizations he remains active in are the Dallas County Medical Society, Texas Medical Association, American Medical Association, Lipoplasty Society of North America, Texas Society of Plastic Surgeons, Dallas Society of Plastic Surgeons, and numerous other medical organizations.
Plastic surgeons perform a wide variety of surgeries that can restore or correct the form and function of the human body, which can be either cosmetic or reconstructive in nature. Dr. Wilcox is able to correct abnormalities of the body that may be causing adverse health effects, or perform surgeries to correct malformations caused by birth defects, trauma, tumors or disease. He also performs elective surgeries, which patients undergo to improve the aesthetic appearance of a certain body part.
A hand surgeon in Texas, Dr. Wilcox cares for injuries and complications of the hand, fingers, wrist, forearm, elbow and shoulder. Dr. Wilcox is specifically trained to diagnose each patient and determine whether or not surgical intervention is medically necessary, as surgery is usually seen as a last resort when other treatment methods have been exhausted. As a result, treatment can be surgical or non-surgical in nature.
