Dr. Richard Snyder is a board-certified interventional cardiologist.
Hi, my name is Rick Snyder and I practice preventive interventional and advanced heart failure and Transplant cardiology for heart place at medical city in Dallas. I practiced there for about 20
years now as a professional cardiologist but I actually started working at medical city when I was in high school. Being raised in educated in Dallas I worked at medical city during high school and really that's where I fostered my interest in cardiology working in the operating Suites as an anesthesia technician. I became very fascinated with watching the heart pump and I was very attracted to cardiology because in cardiology not only do we have a lot of diagnostic capability but a lot of therapeutic capability and so you can actually do a lot as a cardiology specialist not only diagnosing what kind of these pathologies that there are but also helping and healing patients as well. And for me probably the most satisfying thing is preventing disease before it occurs or ameliorating it as minimalisticly as possible without having to do expensive tests or very invasive type procedures but when you have to we have a lot of things that we can offer from interventional perspective and new sorts of technologies in terms of artificial hearts, transplantation, stents in cardiology there's a lot of people like to look at cardiology three different facets as being electricians, plumbers, and now mechanics and I kind of cover two of those three being a plumber in terms of interventional cardiology and a mechanic in terms of heart failure what I do for advanced heart failure therapies in terms of left ventricular assist devices, cardiac replacement therapies, and transplantation.
I grew up in Dallas Texas and went to elementary school locally here at Saint Monicas and then at Dallas Jesuit where I was afforded the opportunity to actually work at medical surgery during my high school years were actually developed an interest in medicine specifically in cardiology. After graduating from the University of Notre Dame majoring in French, I came back to Dallas and my medical school residency and fellowship all at UT southwestern. Some of my personal interest I'm very interested in medical political advocacy and as that role I have served as the president of the Dallas County Medical Society here locally I was president of the Texas chapter in American College of Cardiology for the state of Texas and I served on the board of governors for the American College of Cardiology in Washington DC. I also serve on the Dallas County Public Health Advisory Committee which is a committee of the Dallas County Health and Human Services.

Raised in Dallas Dr. Snyder attended Jesuit College Prepatory. He developed an interest in medicine while working as an anesthesia technician in the OR at Medical City during his high school and college summers. Dr Snyder joined HeartPlace in 1996, opening the office at Medical City that same year. Although an interventionalist, he prides himself on being, first and foremost, a preventative specialist, emphasizing the prevention of disease primarily through risk factor modification, especially through diet and exercise. He is particularly involved in medical advocacy. Being an advocate for our patients must be much more than just words. We as physicians will have almost as much impact on the health care our patients receive in the legislative chambers as we have in the exam room. As clinicians we treat one patient at a time, but as physician advocates, we can help everyone all at once. He speaks English and French. In his spare time, he and his wife Dr. Shelley Hall, also a cardiologist with HeartPlace, enjoy spending time with their five children as well as the following hobbies:
