Dr. Richard Mallo firmly believes that despite the advancement of medical technology, the best treatment for many illnesses is prevention. Board certified in Internal Medicine, he received his medical degree from the University of Santo Tomas in the Philippines in 1993 and completed his residency at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Catholic Medical Center in Jamaica, New York in 1997.
Dr. Mallo is a member of the American College of Physicians and the American Society of Internal Medicine. He speaks fluent Tagalog.
The specialty of internal medicine is an area of primary care for adults. Dr. Mallo specializes in diagnosing and treating cross-system illnesses that may affect multiple organ systems. Dr. Mallo can also refer patients to specialists when medically necessary. For example, patients with severe heart problems may be referred to a cardiologist for additional diagnostic tests or treatments.
Dr. Mallo is trained to provide comprehensive medical care for elderly and aging patients. As patients age, they may experience an increased susceptibility to illness and injury. In some cases, illnesses or injuries in seniors may overlap to create complicated diagnostic and treatment processes.
