Dr. Omar Saad Dimachkieh is a native Houstonian and has called Houston his home since 1985. After high school, he was admitted to the highly competitive Rice/Baylor Medical Scholars Program in Houston. At Rice University, he was selected for membership in the Phi Beta Kappa honor society.
After graduating magna cum laude from Rice University,, he received his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. He continued at Baylor College of Medicine for his orthopedic surgery residency, where he provided care for patients from all walks of life throughout the Texas Medical Center. During residency training, Dr. Dimachkieh was honored with the Resident Physician Teaching Award, given to the resident physician that performs as an outstanding educator of medical students. He was also elected by his peers to the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha medical honors society, an honor given each year to a single resident physician for providing exemplary service to the medical community.
He continued his subspecialty training, completing a hand and upper extremity surgery fellowship at the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Denver, where he received advanced training for common as well as complex hand and upper extremity injuries and conditions.
Dr. Dimachkieh specializes in hand and upper extremity surgery with an emphasis on disorders of the hand, wrist and elbow. His expertise includes the latest and most advanced techniques for minimally invasive surgery and reconstructive treatments, as well as nonsurgical management and rehabilitation, including endoscopic carpal and cubital tunnel releases, tendon and nerve repair, arthroscopy, fracture fixation, and joint reconstruction and replacement.
Currently, Dr. Dimachkieh is an assistant professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth in Houston. In addition, he is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the Texas Orthopaedic Association, the American Society for Surgery for the Hand and the American Association for Hand Surgery.
An orthopedic surgeon in Texas, Dr. Dimachkieh is qualified to identify and treat trauma to the musculoskeletal system, such as the joints, muscles, bones, tendons, and ligaments. After reaching a specific medical diagnosis, Dr. Dimachkieh will normally turn to surgery when all other treatment methods are already exhausted or eliminated.
