Ofer Jacobowitz, MD, PhD, FAASM, FAAOA is a nationally and internationally recognized expert in obstructive sleep apnea. He graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Sciences degree in life sciences. He continued his studies at the medical scientist training program of the Mount Sinai School of Medicine and graduated with a Ph.D. in Pharmacology and an MD degree. Dr. Jacobowitz performed his postgraduate training in Otolaryngology — Head and Neck Surgery at Mount Sinai Medical Center where he is currently an assistant clinical professor. He is Board-Certified in Otolaryngology—Head and Neck Surgery as well as Sleep Medicine, and is a fellow of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy.

He is an expert member of the Outcome Measures Task Force for Adult OSA of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and has served as Chair of the sleep-related breathing disorders section and all membership sections from 2012 to 2013. Dr. Jacobowitz is the recipient of the honor award of the American Academy of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery where he is also a member of the Sleep Disorders and the Medical Devices Committees. Dr. Jacobowitz has published extensively in the field of sleep apnea and is a peer reviewer for scientific journals. He specializes in the medical and surgical treatment of snoring and sleep apnea for adults and children, as well as sinusitis, nasal obstruction, thyroid cancer and head and neck cancer. He will be seeing patients in the Middletown and 5th Avenue offices.

Dr. Jacobowitz is performing “Balloon Sinuplasty” a new state of the art technique that allows for the opening of the blocked sinuses without the need for conventional surgery. This atraumatic procedure allows patients to return to work within days with virtually no discomfort.
