Dr. Michelle Horn is board certified in family medicine and sports medicine and specializes in non-surgical sports medicine and concussion management in athletes and children. Dr. Horn is a member of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine, the American Osteopathic Academy of Sports Medicine, the American Osteopathic Association and the American Academy of Family Physicians. She is also the Team Physician for Calvary Christian Academy and assists with Central Bucks East High School coverage with Dr. Kieran Cody.
She received her undergraduate degree in biology, art and art history at Dickinson College and her medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Horn completed her internship and family medicine residency at Abington Memorial Hospital. She completed her primary care sports medicine fellowship at St. Luke's Hospital in Bethlehem. During her fellowship she assisted in coverage of athletes at Muhlenberg College, Northampton Community College, and Quakertown High School as well as the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks. She also has experience in covering mass participation events such as the Philadelphia Triathlon and the Lehigh Valley Half Marathon.
Dr. Horn's osteopathic education provides her with a comprehensive background in musculoskeletal medicine. She believes in evaluating not only the site of injury, but also the areas surrounding it to find the underlying mechanism or body positioning that may have caused the injury. She works closely with physical therapists and athletic trainers to return people back to their activities as quickly and as safely as possible.
Dr. Michelle Horn joined Bucks County Orthopedic Specialists in 2013. She also works at Buckingham Family Medicine managing diabetes, hypertension and other chronic health issues and is affiliated with Doylestown Hospital. She has given several lectures to the community on concussion.
Sports medicine physicians are trained to provide treatment and prevention plans for those participating in sports and related physical activities. Dr. Horn is trained to treat complications such as muscle tears and strains, concussions, tendon and ligament damage, shin splints, sports hernias, fractures, and a variety of others. Treatments may include rehabilitation services, therapies and a variety of surgical operations, among others.
