Bio
Dr. Michael Altheimer graduated from University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine in 1981 before completing a residency in Internal Medicine at St Vincent Hospital and Medical Center in Portland, OR from 1981 to 1984. He then completed a fellowship in Endocrinology and Metabolism at Cleveland Clinic Foundation from 1984 to 1986.
Dr. Altheimer has two offices in North Carolina where he specializes in Endocrinology and Diabetology.

Endocrinology
Endocrinologists are trained to treat patients for a variety of hormonal diseases and disorders, such as diabetes. Dr. Altheimer can diagnose and create treatment plans for conditions like growth disorders, obesity, low testosterone, osteoporosis and various thyroid disorders, among others. Treatments provided by an endocrinologist may include medication management or hormone therapies.

Specializing in the treatment of diabetes, Dr. Altheimer cares for patients suffering from all types and stages of the disease such as types I and II, or gestational diabetes.
