My lifelong interest in both women’s health and preventative health inspired my decision to pursue a career in medicine. As an obstetrician and gynecologist at Durham OB-GYN, I provide care for women of all ages, from teens who are just entering their reproductive years to elderly women who are beyond menopause. I see women for routine exams and health maintenance, and I care for them before, during and after pregnancy. I also treat women for a variety of non-pregnancy related issues and conditions, including infections, heavy menstrual bleeding, fibroid tumors, endometriosis and symptoms associated with menopause. I spend time listening to my patients in an effort to really understand what brings them in and how I can best help them. The connection I make with each patient helps me tailor care to that individual patient and her circumstances. With each patient interaction, I learn more about my field, and how to better care for all the women in my practice.

Obstetrics is the term for women's care throughout the prenatal & expectant states, while gynecology deals with the care of general women's health in a non-pregnant state.
