Dr. Marcy Abel has been in private practice in Nashville, TN since 2004. She completed her undergraduate training at Vanderbilt University followed by her Doctorate of Medicine at the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center. Dr. Abel completed her general surgery internship and urology residency as well at the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center.
Dr. Abel is board certified by the American Board of Urology as well as Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery (FPMRS). She has served as the Chief of Urology at Midtown Hospital. Dr. Abel has been a clinical instructor of Vanderbilt Urology residents for many years and has overseen the training of multiple urology physician assistants and nurse practitioners.
Dr. Abel’s practice includes general urology along with a specialization in female urologic problems. She is an expert at the treatment of urinary incontinence, pelvic pain, recurrent urinary tract infection and pelvic organ prolapse. She has extensive experience in the treatment of refractory overactive bladder including Interstim and Botox treatment. She is a leader in the community in vaginal reconstruction techniques including robotic surgical repair of prolapse.
Dr. Abel is a member of the American Medical Association, Tennessee Medical Association, Society for Urodynamics and Female Urology and International Society for Sexual Medicine. She has served on the board of the Tennessee Women in Medicine and on the peer review committee of Midtown Hospital.
