Medicine is attractive to me as the correct diagnosis may help improve the individual seeking assistance understanding of their problems as well as an improvement in their activities of daily living.
I was taught in Medical School that I am responsible for understanding that which the patient is attempting to convey, formulate a diagnosis and attempt to prove or disprove the diagnosis. And always to remember that another human being, very similar to me, has come to me for assistance which may require more listening and require reformulation of my diagnosis to treat the patient's problems and not a diagnosis.
