Dr. Maxa graduated from Birmingham-Southern College with a Bachelors of Science degree and received her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Alabama, Birmingham – Medical School. After finishing her residency in Internal Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, she completed additional training in Radiation Oncology at Emory University School of Medicine where she served as Chief Resident in her final year.
She is married to John Maxa Jr., MD and they have two children.
As an oncologist, Dr. Maxa is trained to diagnose and treat all types and forms of cancer. Dr. Maxa may employ a variety of diagnostic tests such as biopsies, imaging tests, endoscopic tests and laboratory tests.
