Bio


Laura Amorese-O’Connell, MD received her medical degree from Zulia University (LUZ) School of Medicine in Venezuela. She became a research fellow for more than a year at the Massachusetts Eye Research and Surgery Institute under Dr. Stephen Foster, a known world authority in ocular inflammatory conditions.

She completed an internship and residency at North Shore Medi­cal Center in Salem, MA, and a rheumatology clinical research fellowship at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University in Providence, RI.

She is currently serving as a clinician educator at Brown University Rheumatology fellowship, Roger Williams Rheumatology Fellowship, and Providence Veteran Affairs Medical Centers where medical students from Brown University and medicine residents from different programs receive training.

Born in Maracaibo, Venezuela, Dr. Amorese-O’Connell is bilingual in English and Native Spanish. She most recently worked at the Veterans Affair Hospital in Providence, RI. She is board certified in rheumatology and internal medicine.

She is a member of several professional affiliations, including American College of Physicians, Massachusetts Medical Society and the American College of Rheumatology.

Dr. Amorese-O’Connell joined Dr. Divya Mahajan, providing care for a variety of rheumatic conditions (see the "Conditions Treated" section below).
