I am a board certified radiation oncologist practicing at the Memorial Health University Medical Center and South Georgia Center for Cancer Care and a Clinical Associate Professor at Mercer University School of Medicine. I work with a multi-disciplinary team to treat adult & pediatric patients with cancer. My practice specializes in stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT), stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT), 3D conformal radiation therapy (3DCRT), high dose rate brachytherapy (skin, prostate, gynecologic cancers), low dose rate brachytherapy (prostate cancer), and radioactive nuclides (prostate, liver, thyroid cancers). I also have extensive prior experience with proton therapy.
My passion is to provide cutting edge, evidenced based medical care while helping patients navigate a significant life stressor. This includes keeping in mind emotional distress (both individual and family), time management, morbidity (both diagnostic and therapeutic), financial hardship, and goals of treatment (both quantity and quality of life). Cancer patients frequently come in overwhelmed as they meet a host of specialists while struggling with their diagnoses.
Radiation oncologists are highly specialized physicians who utilize radiation therapy treatments to treat patients suffering from cancer. Dr. Devisetty is trained to identify the type of cancer and create a targeted treatment plan that will increase the patient's chances of overcoming the disease. To treat and manage cancer, radiation therapy targets malignancies, working to prevent cancer cells from continually dividing. As a result, radiation therapy can kill cancer cells and shrink tumors & growths.
