Dr. McCulloch is a native New Yorker. He earned his undergraduate degree from Princeton University in Princeton, NJ and received his M.D. from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey - Robert Wood Johnson. He returned to New York City for his training in Orthopaedic Surgery at St. Luke's / Roosevelt Hospital Center, University Hospital of Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. Finally, he completed a prestigious fellowship in Adult Reconstruction at Stanford University Medical Center in Palo Alto, CA. For his initial years in practice, Dr. McCulloch was located in Southern California where he developed one of the busiest practices in the southwestern United States. He then returned home to New York City to be near family and friends, and since then has introduced a number of innovative technologies and techniques to the area.
Dr. McCulloch was the first doctor in New York City to perform, and offer to his patients Direct Anterior Hip Replacement as an alternative to the more invasive and painful traditional approach. He introduced the procedure to New York at New York Downtown Hospital and then later brought the technique to NYU/Hospital for Joint Diseases. Since then, this procedure has gained in popularity because of its significant benefits to a patient’s outcome and recovery and has been featured in the New York Times.
Dr. McCulloch was also the first doctor in New York City to offer his patients custom fit knee replacements which function to reduce operative time and help achieve a more precise alignment. This directly improves the function and longevity of the implant.
Finally, Dr. McCulloch has just performed the first ever, Virtual Robotic Total Knee Replacement, in New York City. A procedure that will certainly become the new gold standard for knee replacement surgery due to the precise outcomes of the technique.
In sports medicine and joint preservation, Dr. McCulloch has been amongst the first physicians in New York City to provide advanced treatment alternatives to his patients, such as Platelet Rich Plasma, Fetal cartilage cell grafting techniques and partial knee replacement amongst others.

He is an attending surgeon at Lenox Hill Hospital, NS/LIJ, and New York Presbyterian. He is an Associate Clinical Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Weil Cornell Medical College and the president and founder of New York Sports and Joints.
