Dr. Alvarez attained her doctoral degree in Medicine and Surgery from Universidad Central de Venezuela, then completed her Ophthalmology training in 2000 and specialized in Comprehensive Ophthalmology. She has participated as speaker in the Ophthalmology Basic Science courses for residents in the Venezuelan Society of Ophthalmology as well as in clinical research throughout her career. She has several years of experience practicing General Ophthalmology / Medicine and emphasizes in ocular manifestations of systemic diseases.She is an active member of American Medical Association, American Academy ofOphthalmology, Women in Ophthalmology and National Professional Women Association.
