The entrance into the parking lot is off Lake Ridge Drive. Proceed straight ahead and park in the lot just to the right of the building. The office entrance is on this level.

Joseph Thomas Jenkins, MD is a general surgeon with a practice specializing in the treatment of varicose veins and venous reflux disease. His office is located in Dubuque, Iowa, a city on the Mississippi River where Iowa, Wisconsin, and Illinois meet. His education started with a bachelor degree in chemistry from the University of Iowa 1980. His medical degree was obtained from the University of Iowa, Carver College of Medicine in 1984. He completed one year of general surgery training at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington D.C. He was sent to Darmstadt, Germany serving as a General Medical Officer for the United States Army, for three years. He returned to The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics to complete a residency in general surgery 1993. An additional year as a general surgeon with the Army was serviced at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. He then began a 16 year career as a board certified general surgeon with Dubuque Surgery PC, in his home town of Dubuque. In January 2011, secondary to a change in his practice and a keen interest in the treatment of venous disease he opened the Tri-State Vein Center. Within two years of opening, he obtained the RPVI, RPhS, and RVT credentials which pertain to expertise in vascular ultrasound. The ultrasound lab within the office received accreditation from the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) in venous studies in 2012. In 2013 he became a diplomate of the American Board of Venous and Lymphatic Medicine. Professionally, he is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a member of the American Venous Forum, and American College of Phlebology. He currently is the chairman for the Online CME Subcommittee of the American College of Phlebology and a graduate of their Leadership Academy. The Tri-State Vein Center received Vein Center accreditation (IAC) in January 2016. Dr. Jenkins has been a super user of Aprima Medical Software for the many years and has built numerous templates and forms within the software. The Aprima Interface Division and Dr. Jenkins have built a subspecialty interface between Aprima and the American College of Phlebology Vein Registry.
As a general surgeon in Iowa, Dr. Jenkins performs a range of of surgeries and operations, usually focusing on areas and organs of the abdomen and their related organs.
