About Dr. Gotvald
Dr. Gotvald

Bio

Board-certified vascular surgeon and vein specialist.

Dr. Gotvald is double board-certified in Vascular Surgery and General Surgery by the American Board of Surgery, with specialty training in Phlebology (the branch of vascular medicine that deals with veins and their diseases). As a residency and fellowship-trained vascular surgeon and vein specialist, he is considered a local expert in the diagnosis and management of vein disorders of the circulatory system. He has received the Patients’ Choice Award, Compassionate Doctor Award, and is a Healthgrades Recognized Doctor with a five star rating. He is listed in the US News & World Report directory of top vascular surgeons in the nation. He was featured in Austin Monthly magazine in January after being voted Top Doctor in his specialty. Heath Tap and Castle Connolly Medical also voted Dr. Gotvald the top Vascular & Vein Specialist in Texas in 2014.

Dr. Gotvald received his credentials by performing 6 years of formal surgical and laser training at the leading medical centers in Houston and Dallas. The focus of his training was on minimally-invasive therapies for vascular and vein diseases, including the use of vein lasers, ultrasound-guided varicose vein treatments, radiofrequency vein therapy, and sclerotherapy. He has published several articles pertaining to his work in nationally distributed medical and surgical journals. His vast experience with all of the latest varicose vein technologies helps to ensure that he can provide his patients with the best possible cosmetic results with the least amount of pain and recovery time.

Our physician is nationally recognized as a distinguished member of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and the Society for Vascular Surgeons. Dr. Gotvald also distinguishes himself by being nationally certified as a Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation (RPVI), reflecting his expertise in vein ultrasound & vascular radiology interpretation. He has personally performed and interpreted thousands of vein ultrasound studies and ultrasound-guided procedures. Dr. Gotvald has always maintained an active hospital and clinical practice, having served the medical community as a physician for over 15 years. He provides vein services for the Seton, St. David’s, and Westlake Hospital systems.
