After fellowship, Dr. Nader worked in different settings mainly as an inpatient and CL psychiatrist managing various populations with different cultural backgrounds and age groups, complex severe mental illness, veterans, medically compromised patients, patients with special needs, and patients with addiction. As a result of doing two residencies and a fellowship and having a significant inpatient and outpatient experiences, Dr. Nader follows an integrated model of care that combines both medicine and psychiatry and is comfortable in managing difficult psychiatric and medically compromised patients in different settings. Dr. Nader provides an advanced knowledge in evidence based model of health care, diagnostic and safety assessment, legal and ethical issues, psychopharmacological treatment, therapy, after care planning, capacity of a patient to consent to treatment, mental symptoms as a result of physical illness, physical symptoms as a result of a mental disorder, behavioral issues, compliance, presence of support, managing delirium, substance related problems, and facilitating communication and coordinating a multidisciplinary care that involve the primary team.Dr. Nader has been affiliated with many hospitals including the Veterans Affairs Hospitals VA and various Department of Mental Health DMH hospitals like Taunton State Hospital, and private hospitals in Massachusetts Metro-West, St. Lukes, Charlton Memorial, Pembroke, Arbour-Fuller in addition to the Harvard and BU affiliated hospitals in Boston. He also has an outpatient clinic where he sees patients for therapy and psychopharmacology longitudinally throughout the year. Dr. Nader has also been interested in the science and did a cross sectional study of the Prevalence of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder in a Student Sample. He also participated with two Harvard Day Mysell posters, and a poster at the American Psychiatric Association APA yearly meeting about The Broken Heart Syndrome. In addition Dr. Nader did many presentations on Schizophrenia Manifestations, Neurochemistry and Genetics of Mental Illness, the Mechanism of Action of Antipsychotics, Mood Disorders manifestations and Etiology, Substance Dependence, the Anhedonia in Depression VS Schizophrenia, the Pizzagalli Computerized Signal Detection Task, Medically Unexplained Symptoms, Evidence Based Integrated Approach in Treating Somatization Disorder, Utilizing Nurse Practitioners in Treating Somatization Disorder, Substance P at the Nexus of Body and Brain, The Anandamide Connection, and Dementia and Agitation in the Elderly. Dr. Nader is especially interested in creating more effective behavioral programs for different mental illnesses.Dr. Nader hopes that his experience contributes to the better care for his patients.
Dr. Jihad Nader is a psychiatrist, a primary care physician for mental health.
