Dr. DaSilva is an orthopedic surgeon sub-specializing in sports injuries and arthritic conditions of the knee, hip, and shoulder. Dr. DaSilva believes in joint preservation and has expertise in minimally invasive surgery, cartilage restoration, cartilage and meniscal transplantation, osteotomies and ligament reconstruction. Dr. DaSilva also has an interest in hip arthroscopy.
Dr. DaSilva grew up in the Pacific Northwest on Vancouver Island. He attended Trinity Western University in British Columbia on academic scholarship, and graduated with great distinction. He earned his medical degree from the University of British Columbia where he received multiple scholarships and awards. He completed orthopedic surgery residency training at the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario. During residency he received several awards for his research and served as the Chief resident. Before joining the staff at Rebound, Dr. DaSilva completed a sports medicine fellowship at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, IL. While at Rush he worked as part of the medical staff for the Chicago Bulls basketball team, Chicago White Sox baseball club, Chicago Steel hockey team, and the Chicago Bandits professional women’s softball team. Dr. DaSilva has also traveled internationally with US Soccer as a team physician. Following his time in Chicago, Dr. DaSilva visited the Steadman-Hawkins Clinic in Vail, Colorado to learn more techniques in hip arthroscopy and joint preservation.
Dr. DaSilva has published numerous articles and book chapters on surgical techniques and clinical outcomes in sports medicine. He has also presented his research at many national and international meetings. Dr. DaSilva has served as an instructor at the arthroscopy learning center, and is a journal reviewer for Arthroscopy. Dr. DaSilva is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery, the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine, and the Arthroscopy Association of North America.
Being an orthopedic surgeon in Oregon, Dr. DaSilva is qualified to treat and diagnose injuries to the musculoskeletal system, such as the muscles, bones, joints, ligaments, and tendons. After reaching a specific medical diagnosis, Dr. DaSilva will normally turn to surgery when all other treatment options have been exhausted or eliminated. Patients may need the care and attention of an orthopedic surgeon for torn ligaments, sports injuries, fractures, sprains, and more.
