Bio
Jeffrey P. Anthony, DO, FAAFP, FAOASM went to medical school at the Des Moines University of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his family practice residency at Phoenix General Hospital in 1987. He completed his sports medicine fellowship at San Diego Sports Medicine & Family Health Center in 1988, and joined the practice immediately after. Dr. Anthony is board certified in family medicine with added qualifications in sports medicine. He is a team physician for the US Olympic Training Center, San Diego State University club sports, San Diego Christian College, Cuyamaca College, and Santa Fe Christian High School. He is an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine and adjunct professor at SDSU. He has served on many boards, including the Governor’s Board for Alvarado Hospital Medical Center, and the San Diego Academy of Family Practice. He has been the team physician for the Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF) and the Million Dollar Ride since 2007. Dr. Anthony was voted among America’s Best Family Medicine Doctors by the Consumers’ Research Council of America and as one of San Diego Top Doctors for multiple years.

Sports Medicine
Sports medicine physicians are trained to provide treatment and prevention plans for those participating in sports and related physical activities. Dr. Anthony is trained to treat complications such as muscle tears and strains, concussions, tendon and ligament damage, shin splints, sports hernias, fractures, and a variety of others. Treatments may include rehabilitation services, therapies and a variety of surgical operations, among others.
