Dr. Jason James is a board certified obstetrician-gynecologist who has been in private practice in the Miami area since 2003. He is the current Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Baptist Hospital. Dr. James completed his undergraduate education at the University of Pennsylvania and attended medical school at the University of Miami. He completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center, where he was recognized for his outstanding teaching skills.
Since entering private practice in Miami, he has been active at the administrative level at Baptist Hospital and at the Medical Arts Surgery Center, and was recently nominated among a select number of physicians to participate in a Building Collaborative Leadership course for future leaders of Baptist Hospital. Dr. James has received numerous awards, including the Patients' Choice Recognition every year since 2008, as well as being named as one of the Best Physicians in the Consumers' Guide to Top Physicians. In addition, Dr. James was also recognized as America's Top Ob/Gyn's and received the Compassionate Doctor Recognition for his outstanding dedication to his patients.
He is skilled in laparoscopic and robotic gynecologic surgery, urogynecologic procedures, minimally invasive surgery, infertility, and high-risk obstetrics, and enjoys remaining at the cutting edge of medical technology. He has a special interest in postpartum depression and was named the 2010 ACOG Issue of the Year Research Award Recipient. Additionally, Dr. James is active in community philanthropy and serves on the Steering Committee of Young Physicians for Baptist Health.
Apart from his practice of medicine, Dr. James has led numerous community discussions about women's health and is a well-regarded expert on the prevention of elective early term deliveries and on umbilical cord blood banking. In addition, he is a certified mohel and member of the National Organization of American Mohalim. Dr. James is fluent in English and Spanish and is welcoming new patients. He enjoys spending his free time traveling around the world with his wife, Lisa, and three children.
