Dr. Janet Hilbert Howard-Flanders graduated from SUNY Downstate Medical Center before completing a residency in Internal Medicine at Columbia University/The Presbyterian Hospital in New York, NY. She then completed a fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Yale University/Yale New Haven Hospital.

Sleep Medicine
Sleep medicine specialists diagnose and treat various disorders and diseases relating to sleep. This can include a range of conditions including insomnia, sleep apnea, restless leg syndrome, narcolepsy, nightmares and others. Dr. Hilbert Howard-Flanders utilizes a variety of diagnostic tools including screening devices, overnight sleep studies or oximeters, among many others. Critical care pulmonologists are trained in two closely-related areas of medicine: pulmonology & critical care. Dr. Hilbert Howard-Flanders treats patients suffering from life-threatening pulmonary disorders and diseases. These may include emphysema, pneumonia, lung cancer or COPD. As a critical care specialist, Dr. Hilbert Howard-Flanders is also trained to stabilize patients who are in critical condition and require mechanical ventilation.
