Dr. James Ito graduated from UCSF School of Medicine in 1974 before completing a residency in Internal Medicine at Los Angeles County - USC Medical Center from 1975 to 1977. He then completed a fellowship in Infectious Diseases at University of California, San Diego Medical Center from 1977 to 1980.
