Dr. López received his medical degree Cum Laude from Harvard Medical School. At Harvard, he received the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation Merit Scholar Award. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center at the University of California, Los Angeles. He was a Research Fellow in the Cardiac Unit at the Massachusetts General Hospital. He went on to complete a fellowship in cardiovascular diseases and interventional cardiology in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
Dr. López has received several awards and honors in his career, including Second Prize National Young Investigator Award from the American College of Cardiology, the Alfred Soffer Research Award from the American College of Chest Physicians, the National Trainee Award from the American Federation for Clinical Research, and an Associate Investigator Award and the Merit Review Award from the Veteran’s Administration.
