I am a highly experienced hepatobiliary surgeon with an extensive background in the evaluation and treatment of people with liver, bile duct, and pancreatic tumors. At NYU Langones Perlmutter Cancer Center, as well as at Bellevue Hospital, I see more than 40 patients each week with complex gastrointestinal and liver cancer., I lead one of the most successful cancer research laboratories in the United States, where I investigate immunologic regulation of liver and pancreatic cancer. Our lab has been supported by more than 40 federal and nonfederal grants since 2009. I am also the director of the only training program in the country in gastrointestinal oncology that is funded by the National Institutes of Health., I am the vice chair for research in NYU Langones Department of Surgery. I also serve as the leader of Perlmutter Cancer Centers Immunology Program and am a member of the Gastrointestinal Disease Management Group. I have chaired congressionally appointed committees on liver cancer research.
