Frederick J. McClimans, DO, is an orthopaedic and sports medicine specialist who practices at the Tampa Bay Bone and Joint Center in Carrollwood, Florida. A native of Dallas, Texas, Dr. McClimans split his undergraduate education between Florida State College and Northeast Missouri State, from which he graduated in 1976. He then entered the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, graduating from medical school in 1981. He completed a rotating internship at Dallas/Fort Worth Medical Center before going on to complete an orthopedic residency at the same institution. During his tenure, he held the position of chief resident.
In 1986, Dr. McClimans opened his practice in Tampa, Florida. He is currently the president of the Tampa Bay Bone and Joint Center and the Tampa Bay Surgery Center. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. McClimans is committed to the education of new physicians and serves as an assistant clinical professor of orthopedic surgery at the Southeastern University of the Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine, as well as an assistant clinical professor at Michigan State University. He is board-certified in osteopathic medicine and orthopedic surgery. To ensure his patients multiple choices for hospital care, he is associated with Town and Country Hospital, Florida Hospital and the Tampa Bay Surgery Center. He is a member of numerous local and national professional organizations, including the American Osteopathic Association, the Florida Medical Association, the Florida Osteopathic Medical Association, Associate Physicians of Tampa Bay and the American Osteopathic Association of Orthopedics.
Dr. McClimans has been repeatedly recognized for his abilities and bedside manner. He was selected “Physician of the Year” in 2009 and received the “Patients’ Choice Award” for 2008–2010 and 2012–2013. In 2010 and 2012 through 2015, he received the “Compassionate Doctor Recognition” award. In 2014, he was selected for the Top 10 Doctor-City Award.
