After being hit as a pedestrian and dragged across a parking lot by a woman TEXTING and not looking, my life changed. Dr. Gosy should be noted as a PATRIOT. Were it not for his brave, careful, cautious, caring, and very structured medical assessment and care ( which has so many checks and balances and strict safety requirements and precautions), Dr.Gosy returned to me the Constitutional Right I had lost: "My inborn right to the pursuit of "life," liberty" and the "pursuit of happiness." All of these had been stolen from me by a texting driver. Most people can relate to acute illness or pain. Few can empathize with both the chronicity and lonelines of chronic pain. Dr.Gosy is strong enough to be able to "go there," for to empathize, one has to enter into the hopeless, helpless, suffering, and "forever this way" feeling of the chronic pain sufferer. Most people do not let themselves do this because it evokes feelings of "There But the Grace of God go I." This is a very vulnerable feeling so most people avoid it by blaming the patient ,or saying ignorant and perjorative things about the Doctor. Dr. Gosy "stays with" those of us who know we will NEVER be the same again. As a psychologist, he has earned my respect and gratitude.
