Serving patients in Melbourne, Florida since 1985, Dr. Donald Vliegenthart is a fellowship trained Orthopaedic surgeon with extensive surgical experience in Spine Surgery, Hand Surgery, total joint replacement, trauma and Sports Medicine.  At First Choice Medical Group, he is focused on delivery of non-surgical orthopedic care for patients with back, neck, and joint problems. Dr. Vliegenthart earned his Medical Degree from the University of South Florida, College of Medicine, and subsequently completed residencies in Orthopedic Surgery at both the Chicago Medical School at Rosalind Franklin University and the University of South Florida. He was also appointed by President George Bush and HHS Secretary Tommy Thompson to the Medicare Program Advisory and Oversight Committee, where he served for five years. Patients benefit from Dr. Vliegenthart’s extensive training and expertise in Orthopaedic care. He is able to provide high quality and customized treatment to patients to reduce pain, improve mobility, and improve overall wellbeing.
