Dr. Dean Chen is a board-certified, highly trained orthopedic surgeon who specializes in sports medicine involving the shoulders and knees. Dr. Chen serves his patients from Greater Austin Orthopaedics’ South and North Austin offices, the Southwest Medical Village, and at the Lockhart satellite office. In addition to shoulder and knee injuries, he focuses on: Adult and pediatric trauma Joint reconstruction Foot and ankle surgery Hand and upper extremity surgery Dr. Chen’s primary goal is to help his patients make a full functional recovery. He achieves this through a collaborative approach with his patients, and through the use of both surgical and nonsurgical options. As a student, Dr. Chen began his studies at the University of California, Los Angeles, where he received a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology. He then attended medical school at Baylor College in Houston and completed his residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. Dr. Chen is a member of the Travis County Medical Society, Texas Orthopaedic Association, Austin Orthopaedic Trauma Association, and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He’s proud to have been providing quality care in the Austin, Texas, community since 1999, and continues to accept new patients.
