Dr. Phillips treats disease of the lung including: asthma, COPD, bronchiectasis, lung infections, sleep medicine as well as interstitial lung disease. He also cares for patients in the intensive care unit. He is involved with clinical research.
Critical care pulmonologists are trained in two closely-related areas of medicine: pulmonology & critical care. Dr. Phillips treats patients suffering from life-threatening pulmonary disorders and diseases. These may include emphysema, pneumonia, lung cancer or COPD. As a critical care specialist, Dr. Phillips is also trained to stabilize patients who are in critical condition and require mechanical ventilation.
Sleep medicine specialists diagnose and treat various disorders and diseases relating to sleep. This can include a range of conditions including insomnia, sleep apnea, restless leg syndrome, narcolepsy, nightmares and others. Dr. Phillips utilizes a variety of diagnostic tools including screening devices, overnight sleep studies or oximeters, among many others. Treatments can include CPAP therapy, implantation of sleep devices, counseling, lifestyle modifications, and others aimed at eliminating or alleviating the symptoms of sleep conditions.
