I had constant debilitating lower back pain. I am a 55 y/o female and live on HI island. I had unsuccessful surgery in 2015, done in CO. In 2016, I was referred to Dr. Spencer by a former happy patient and friend of our family. Dr. Spencer reviewed my MRI's and worked closely with me on a long distance diagnosis. I travelled to LB prior to the surgery for a meeting with Dr. Spencer. I was a candidate for an Artificial Disk (L5S1), repairing the disc below (of which nothing was left) by adding a cage, rods, screws and removing the (unnecessary) Coflex device from my facet joints. This was an anterior method and posterior for the Coflex. Surgery was 7 hours. I have been pain-free with no nerve pain (!) for 8 blissful months. No meds since December (I was on Fetanyl, Opana, Morphine, Vicodin). I got my life back and will be forever grateful to Dr. Spencer and his very talented staff...
