Dr. Stasik is a Midwest native and earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan in 2001. He stayed at the University of Michigan for Medical School and received his MD degree in 2005. He then completed his general surgery residency training at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida, and his cardiothoracic surgery residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, Texas. He completed an additional fellowship in aortic and endovascular surgery at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, before returning to the faculty at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. After 5 years as an Assistant Professor and Associate Director of the cardiothoracic surgery residency training program, as well as serving as Surgical Director of the Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) program and director of the South Texas Aortic Center, he left to join Cape Thoracic & Cardiovascular Surgery, a Saint Francis Medical Partner, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. There he specializes in cardiothoracic surgery techniques, including all aspects of cardiac and thoracic surgery. Of particular interest are aortic valve replacement and repair, TAVR, surgical revascularization for coronary artery disease (CABG surgery), aortic aneurysm surgery, and surgical treatment for atrial fibrillation. He also performs minimally invasive lung resections (VATS) for cancer and other diseases of the lungs.
Following rigorous and lengthy training, thoracic surgeons are uniquely qualified to perform complex surgeries on the chest, or thorax as it is sometimes called. Their focus is usually on the lungs, esophagus, and other areas of the chest, and may also include the heart. As such, Dr. Stasik may see patients in Texas for a wide range of surgeries, for example removing cancer causing tumors from the esophagus and chest wall, or even a lung transplant.
Dr. Chad Stasik is a cardiac surgeon that specializes in the surgical healing of heart and cardiovascular disorders. These can include rheumatic, ischemic, endocarditis, atherosclerosis, and valvular, or congenital heart disease. Dr. Stasik may carry out types of procedures such as coronary artery bypass, heart transplant surgery, heart valve repair, or surgical implantation of defibrillators and pacemakers.
