Dr. Almond was born in Panama City, Florida. He graduated with honors from the University of Florida in 1996 majoring in Material Science and Engineering with a minor in chemistry. Additionally, he earned his PhD in 2002 studying Polymeric Biomaterials Engineering. In 2004, Dr. Almond graduated from the University of Florida College of Medicine. He finished his residency in General Surgery at the University of Michigan in 2009. Dr. Almond recently completed his Vascular and Endovascular Surgery Fellowship at the University of Florida in Gainesville and a minifellowship in advanced endovascular surgical techniques in Australia. He is a member of the Peripheral Vascular Surgery Society, Society of Vascular Surgery, American College of Surgeons and the American Medical Association.
Dr. Almond has state of the art training in minimally invasive treatments for arterial and venous vascular disease including endovascular repair of aortic aneurysms and angioplasty of peripheral arteries. His special interests include all aspects of open surgical and endovascular therapies for the treatment of vascular diseases.
Dr. Almond will begin private practice with Bay Surgical Specialists on August 1, 2011 and is accepting new patients. He holds privileges at St. Anthony’s, Bayfront, Northside, St. Petersburg General, Edward White, Palms of Pasadena and Kindred Hospitals. Dr. Almond resides in St. Petersburg with his wife and daughter.
