Dr. Ashley Simela is a highly respected orthopedic surgeon serving New York City and the tri state area. Patients seek his expertise in treating lumbar and neck conditions, as well as shoulder and knee problems. Utilizing a stepwise conservative approach to care, he avoids surgery whenever possible, and when performing surgery employs the latest minimally invasive techniques to facilitate a quick recovery.

Dr. Simela is a Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon with sub-specialty training in adult and pediatric spinal surgery. He has undergone extensive training in advanced minimally invasive techniques including fusion and disc replacement. He is also one of a select group of surgeons qualified to perform endoscopic cervical and lumbar procedures.
Dr. Simela is also a talented orthopaedic trauma surgeon. He performs a number of advanced procedures, such as fracture repair, arthroscopy, hip and knee reconstruction, and micro hand surgery.
Training and Continuing Education
Dr. Simela attended Pace University, where he obtained his BA in Biological Science, he then attended graduate school at Cornell University. From there, he completed his medical school education at NYCOM and was selected as an orthopedic surgery resident at University Hospitals Health Systems, in Cleveland Ohio where he served as the Chief Resident. Following residency Dr. Simela was awarded the prestigious Fellowship in Spinal Disorders at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, CA.
Even with his advanced training, Dr. Simela is committed to pursuing ongoing education and to staying informed on the latest innovations in surgery and Healthcare. In addition to being an active physician scientist, he recently completed Harvard Business Schools Executive Education program in Managing Health Care Delivery.
Specializing in orthopedic spine surgery, Dr. Simela can diagnose and treat a range of conditions affecting the spine. These may include degenerative diseases, arthritic conditions, fractures, tumors, deformities such as scoliosis, and other conditions. Treatment techniques may range from invasive to minimally-invasive surgeries of the spine and vertebrae. However, depending upon the patient's diagnosis and medical history, treatments may be non-surgical in nature.
Dr. Simela is an orthopedic surgeon in Ohio, trained to treat and diagnose all forms of injury to your musculoskeletal system, including the joints, muscles, bones, tendons, and ligaments.
