Dr. Angela Vélez completed medical school at the Instituto de Ciencias de la Salud “CES” in her country of origin, Colombia. She then moved to San Antonio, TX where she completed her Psychiatry residency training in 2005 and two fellowships, in Geriatric Psychiatry in 2006 and Clinical Neurophysiology in 2007, at the University of Texas Health Science Center.
Doctor Vélez is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in General Psychiatry and Sleep Medicine. She worked at the University of Texas Health Science Center at the Department of Neurology as an Assistant Professor for seven years. There she worked extensively with patients with neurological conditions and psychiatric comorbidities. During that time she was the medical director of the Sleep Lab at University Hospital where she interpreted polysomnograms as well as MSLTS on a daily bases.
Doctor Vélez decided to move to private practice in September 2014. She has expertise on treating patients with Neurological conditions and psychiatric comorbidities as well as diagnosing and treating sleep disorders.
