Alison Kitay, MD is the Chief of Hand Surgery at MedStar Montgomery Medical Center. Dr. Kitay is an Assistant Professor for Georgetown Orthopaedics at the MedStar Orthopaedic Institute. She was born and raised in Washington, D.C., and she recently moved back to the area after completing the Harvard Hand and Upper Extremity Fellowship. During her time at Harvard, Dr. Kitay developed an expertise in treating complex hand, wrist, and elbow disorders affecting both adults and children. She received her orthopaedic surgery training at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York (rated #1 for orthopaedics in US News and World Report during her time there).
In addition to her surgical skills, Dr. Kitay sets herself apart from the others in her field by her warm bedside manner. Her academic honors include graduating in the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society from the New York University School of Medicine and Magna Cum Laude from Amherst College. She was awarded the prestigious American Foundation for Surgery of the Hand basic science research grant, and she has received several research awards for both clinical and basic science research that has been published and presented at several national meetings. She was an All-American lacrosse player at Amherst College, and she was selected for the Washington Post 1st Team All-Metropolitan lacrosse team.
