Alan T. Chang, MD is a board certified Internal Medicine Physician in Graybill’s Escondido Grand Avenue Office. Dr. Chang believes that counseling his patients on making healthy lifestyle changes plays a key role in his practice. All patients can benefit from some form of regular physical activity and better nutrition, from those already in good health to people with chronic diseases such as diabetes or high blood pressure, to geriatric patients with complex medical needs.
Dr. Chang received his Bachelor’s of Science degree in Biology in 1991 from Stanford University, where he graduated with Honors and Distinction. He attended medical school at Dartmouth University (Hanover, NH) from 1991 through 1993 and at the University of Southern California from 1993 through 1995. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in 1998.
Prior to joining Graybill, Dr. Chang practiced in one of the region’s large medical groups, where he was often formally recognized by his patients for excellent care and compassion. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and is a member of the San Diego County Medical Society, American Medical Association and the American College of Physicians.
The specialty of internal medicine is an area of primary care for adults. Dr. Chang specializes in diagnosing and treating cross-system illnesses that may affect multiple organ systems. When necessary, Dr. Chang can also refer patients to specialists when medically needed. As an example, patients with severe allergies could be referred to an allergist for added diagnostic tests or treatment options.
