William H. Spear, MD, FACC, FHRS offers comprehensive cardiology and cardiac electrophysiology services at Consultants in Cardiology & Electrophysiology offices in Oak Lawn and Palos Heights, Illinois. He treats patients with heart rhythm disorders, where his commitment to providing the best quality of care is evident through his caring interaction, gentle examinations, and thorough patient education. While he treats diverse cardiac disorders, his interests are in atrial fibrillation and ablation of complex arrhythmias.

Dr. Spear completed his undergraduate studies at Northwestern University and received his Doctor of Medicine at the University of Miami Leonard Miller School of Medicine. After completing his residency training in internal medicine at the University of Miami Jackson Memorial Hospital, he completed fellowship training in cardiovascular disease and clinical cardiac electrophysiology at Loyola University Medical Center.

Over the years, Dr. Spear received multiple honors for academic and leadership achievements in medicine, presented at national meetings, and published research in peer reviewed journals. He continues to stay actively engaged in research to make ablation procedures safer for patients by using robotics, reducing radiation exposure, and shortening procedure times. He serves as the medical director of the Atrial Fibrillation Ablation Program at Advocate Christ Medical Center and is on the clinical faculty at the University of Illinois College of Medicine. Dr. Spear proudly leads one of the highest volume robotic ablation centers in the United States. Patients in the Chicago region benefit from this expertise, as robotic ablation allows for more precise and stable treatment of atrial fibrillation and other forms of arrhythmia.
