Bio


Dr. William Julio completed his medical degree at the Central University of the Caribbean School of Medicine in Bayamón. He completed a rotating internship and a residency in General Psychiatry at Cabrini Medical Center / Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York, NY, where he was Chief Resident. Subsequently, he completed a subspecialty fellowship in Geriatric Psychiatry at Saint Vincent's Hospital and Medical Center / New York Medical College.

Dr. Julio is a Diplomate of the American Academy of Disability Analysts and of the American Academy of Psychiatry and Neurology, and certified in Psychiatry and Geriatric Psychiatry. He was also elected by the board of directors of the American Psychiatric Association to be a member ("fellow") of the same. Dr. Julio is a member and has been president of several professional associations, including the Academy of Psychiatry of Puerto Rico and the Association of Psychiatrists of the Bayamón Region. In addition, he has been active in the American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry. Currently, he is the elected president of the Psychiatric Society of Puerto Rico, Rama District of the APA.

Dr. William Julio has participated in numerous symposia / conferences as a lecturer and is involved in clinical research projects in the areas of Generalized Anxiety, Schizophrenia, Schizoaffectivity, Bipolarity and Neurocognitive Disorder, due to Alzheimer's.

El Dr. William Julio completó su grado de medicina en la Universidad Central Del Caribe Escuela de Medicina en Bayamón. Realizó un internado rotatorio y una residencia en Psiquiatría General en Cabrini Medical Center / Mount Sinai School of Medicine en Nueva York, Nueva York y fue Jefe de Residentes. Posteriormente, completó una sub-especialidad en Psiquiatría Geriátrica en Saint Vincent’s Hospital and Medical Center/New York Medical College.

Es Diplomado de la Academia Americana de Analistas de Incapacidad y de la Academia Americana de Psiquiatría y Neurología, certificado en Psiquiatría y en Psiquiatría Geriátrica. Fue además, elegido por la junta de directores de la Asociación Americana de Psiquiatría para ser miembro (“fellow”) de la misma. El Dr. Julio es miembro y ha sido presidente de varias asociaciones profesionales, incluyendo la Academia de Psiquiatría de Puerto Rico y la Asociación de Psiquiatras de la Región de Bayamón. Además, ha estado activo en la Asociación Americana para la Psiquiatría Geriátrica. Actualmente, es el presidente electo de la Sociedad Psiquiátrica de Puerto Rico, Distrito Rama de la APA.

El Dr. William Julio ha participado en numerosos simposios/congresos como conferenciante y está involucrado en proyectos de investigación clínica en las áreas de Ansiedad Generalizada, Esquizofrenia, Esquizoafectividad, Bipolaridad y el Trastorno Neurocognitivo, debido al Alzheimer.
