I grew up in east Tennessee where I was exposed to a marked lack of healthcare for impoverished people. In particular, I became keenly aware of how important it is for women to be able to make healthcare decisions for themselves and their families.
I got my college degree in Environmental Biology, but I soon realized that I wanted to work with people. After a year of nursing school and two years working in a lab in New York City, I headed to Duke Medical School. Following that, I did my residency at the University of Virginia. Since then, I have never looked back!
I love working with women of all ages. Having gone through years of infertility treatment, eventual success with two pregnancies, and finally through menopause, I think I really understand women.
My two sons are grown and happy. I look forward to having grandchildren someday! I love living in the countryside near Crozet where my hobbies include hiking, gardening, playing and listening to music, reading, volunteering locally and abroad, and simply enjoying all the wonderful things our area has to offer.
