Thomas E. Bump, MD, FACC is one of the co-founders of Consultants in Cardiology & Electrophysiology in Chicago where he specializes in treating heart rhythm disorders. Dr. Bump’s patients benefit from his four decades of experience in cardiology. They trust their doctor for his willingness to listen to their concerns and put together teams of specialists to treat all of their health needs
While working on his fellowship, Dr. Bump also completed specialized training in clinical cardiac electrophysiology under Dr. Kenneth Rosen. Following his training, he joined the faculty at the University of Chicago where he established its clinical electrophysiology program and joined Dr. Robert Arzbaecher as the co-investigator of NIH-funded research into device-based detection and treatment of arrhythmias.
Together with Dr. A. Tom Petropulos, Dr. Bump co-founded Consultants in Cardiology & Electrophysiology, where he has delivered compassionate healthcare to patients from Illinois and Indiana since 1992. While he provides comprehensive cardiac care, his clinical interests focus on atrial fibrillation, ablations, defibrillator management, and pacemaker insertion and maintenance, including implantable cardioverter defibrillators. When he’s not treating patients, Dr. Bump stays active in international medical education, especially in Vietnam.

As a cardiac electrophysiologist in Oak Lawn, Dr. Bump specializes in the electrical processes of the heart. He may perform both invasive & non-invasive procedures to help record the electrical activity within the heart. Dr. Bump may also implant defibrillators and pacemakers or evaluate the results of abnormal electrocardiograms.
